SWIMMING
From the North wall of the Cobb across the main sandy beach on Marine Parade to Church Cove by the clock tower, we have a swim line marked with yellow buoys and an orange buoy to indicate the end of the swim line. The safest place to swim is between the swim buoy line and the shore to avoid motor vessels, yachts and dinghies.
In windy conditions Wind, Kite and Foil sufers may launch from the main "pebble" beach. Swimmers must watch out for these and should use tow floats and bright swim caps to aid their visability.
During July and August RNLI Lifeguards are in attendance on the Sandy beach.
During colder months, be aware of cold water shock!, it is important to enter cold waters slowly to acclimatise before entering fully.
Do not swim across the Harbour Mouth, or in the Harbour or pontoon area as this is a busy commercial harbour in constant use.
Please be aware there is often a westward drift so on swimming back towards the Cobb swim in to shore a little to compensate.
Be aware of rocks and reefs on a low tide on all beaches including Monmouth and Church Cove.
